Mutiple Intelligences for Adult Literacy and Education
Here are my scores for the second test
Intelligence
Score (5.0 is highest)
Description
4.71
Nature: You are sensitive to nature and environment. You probably know the names of rocks, flowers, birds, and trees. You love to be outdoors. Here are some ways to use your nature intelligence in your learning:
Work in the garden.
Read about plants and/or animals.
Study habits of fish or birds.
Read nature magazines.
Go hiking. Take photographs of what you find on your hike. Write a story describing the photographs.
3.71
Language: You enjoy enjoy saying, hearing, and seeing words. You like telling stories. You are motivated by books, records, dramas, opportunities for writing. Effective techniques of enhancing your learning using your language intelligence include reading aloud, especially plays and poetry. Another idea is to write down reflections on what you've read. You may also enjoy exploring and developing your love of words, i.e., meanings of words, origin of words and idioms, names. Use different kinds of dictionaries. Other ideas:
Keep a journal
Use a tape recorder to tape stories and write them down
Read together, i.e., choral reading
Read a section, then explain what you've read
Read a piece with different emotional tones or viewpoints — one angry, one happy, etc.
Trade tall tales, attend story-telling events and workshops
Research your name
3.71
Musical: You like the rhythm and sound of language. You like poems, songs, and jingles. You enjoy humming or singing along with music. You probably remember things well when they are associated with music or rhythm. Try to incorporate sounds into your lessons, such as using a familiar tune, song, or rap beat to teach spelling rules, or to remember words in a series for a test. Here are some other ways to use your musical intelligence:
Create a poem with an emphasis on certain sounds for pronunciation.
Clap out or walk out the sounds of syllables.
Read together (choral reading) to work on fluency and intonation.
Read a story with great emotion — sad, then happy, then angry. Talk about what changes — is it only tone?
Work with words that sound like what they mean (onomatopoeia). For example: sizzle, cuckoo, smash.
Read lyrics to music.
Use music as background while reviewing and for helping to remember new material.
Use rhymes to remember spelling rules, i.e., "I before E except after C."
The scores for your other five intelligences:
3.71
3.43
3
2.57
1.57
Just because these five are not in your top three doesn’t mean you’re not strong in them. If your average score for any intelligence is above three, you’re probably using that intelligence quite often to help you learn. Take a look at the Practice section to see how to engage all your intelligences.

Bismark Tribune- Sexting
I found another article that is similar to the others about sexing. It is amazing how many of these young teenagers are sending explicit photos of themselves over the cell phone.
A 16 year old girl got a citation because she was unruly. Her mother notified the police because the girl was fighting with her mother. Obviously this girl has issue because she was taking these photos of herself because it made her feel good about herself.
I feel that society today is not helping these young girls because of what is being seen on television, idols and in magazines today.
Everywhere we see SEX. In our commercials from beer to cars it is all directed towards sex. Television programs which are reality shows such as the Bachelor, Real World, MTV, Victoria Secret, Sex in the City. We see that television is geared toward these types of shows. Even television is geared towards more teen series like Dawson Creek that used to be where teens are having sex. What does this society tell our children. That is is okay to have sex at a young age. These kids want to look like the models on Victoria Secret commerical because that is what society expects. But all in all that is not what the average women looks like.
So why are we so surprised when these children do these types of things. We advertise it everywhere.
As parents we should know the where abouts of our children. We should block things such as my space or other web pages where pedophiles can get a hold of our children. Television channels can be locked with your current cable company. There are steps that we as adults must take. I know that we can't watch every more and that it isn't always the parents fault because as parents we do our best to teach our kids right from wrong. And it is up to the child to take which road on the path to life.
Again, I don't agree with this or condon it at all.

Nature/Frogs: The Thin Green Line
I found a video on PBS that I think would be educational to use in my classroom. The site to go to is http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nat
At the University of California of Berkeley Tyrone Hayes and his students are studying how chemicals that we use in our agricultural is effecting frogs. Harsh chemicals that are used as fertilizer along with pesticides in our crops are killing frogs. These pesticides used are running off into our water system. These chemicals case stress hormones which creates immunosuppression in frogs. Genetic male frogs are not becoming female frogs and laying eggs. There is a chemical that is used on strawberries that is a nerve gas that humans are digesting into their system.
Tyrone Hayes has found large amounts of Atrazine chemical used in our crops. California is the first largest in using chemicals in agriculture than Florida is the second.
He is concerned that these chemicals being used are killing off frogs, and causing major genetic physical changes, as well as the frog becoming extinct what is it going to do to humans.
I found this video to be very interesting. I knew there was some sort of chemicals being used but I did not know it was these types that are causing genetic changes and that the frog was becoming extinct. I think that this video would be great to be used in a classroom. It was very informative and makes one open their eyes to what kind of chemicals are being used in our agricultural.

Sexting
I watched the video about the boy who was convicted of child pornography again, I feel the same way I felt about the young girl.
Okay, yes, this boy made a huge mistake. He sent a nude picture of his girlfriend that he had a fight with to everyone on her call list. This was definately wrong, embarrassing for the girl and it effected lots of people on both sides of the spectrum.
But the punishment is way to harsh. The boy is not a child molester. He didn't hurt a child. I feel that I the fine for $1500 or more and some community service and maybe seeing someone for why he did what he did would be sufficient.
But to be kick out of college, can't live with dad, lost his job, and he is now a registered sex offender is preposterous.
I think that the law has taken this too far. I am not condoning what he did by any means, but the girl wasn't to bright either to be sending stuff like that via the phone. As kids we have all done stupid things in our life. I know that I have sure have. Hind site is 20/20 and if I could take back some of the stuff I did I would but we learn from our mistakes.
This kid life is destroyed. He will always be looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life. Always going to have trouble finding a job amongst other things.
It just amazes me when you need a law for domestic violence against a women they don't come. You try to get a court order of protect which is a piece of paper that they person you got it against breaks. The law tells you they can't really do anything until he actually tries to harm you. Ain't' that something. But by then it is too late.
I am referring to a true story about Thurman women who husband beat her, stabbed her over thirty times, stepped on her neck, cut her face all while the law stood there watching. She had filed over and over complaints to the police department and had court order protection but nothing was ever done. So when you need the law its not on your side.
Compare this with the too. I don't know call me crazy. It goes from one extreme to another extreme.
Like I said, I don't condone what was done he should be punished for what he did but he is definitely no sex offender. Now if he did something to a small baby or child heck yeah, I would throw the book at him.

NJ Girl arrested
I was really stock to read this article about this young 14 year who may go to jail for 17 years for child pornography.
She text her boyfriend a sexual picture of herself to him. I don't think that was a smart idea to do something like that since she is just a teenagers. But I don't feel that she should got jail for 17 and be charged for possession of child pornography. And have to file as a sex offender. I think that the law is wrong on this part. You want to punish the girl that is fine figure another way or get her help because she is needing some help but not something like this that will destroy her life forever.
I think that when you need the law they're not there for people and when you don't need them they come in making up these rules and laws that are so far fetched it is ridiculous.
But this must should be eye opener for parents everywhere. That they really need to start paying more attention to what their kids are doing these days. This starts at home. Instead of parents just letting their kids do what they want because it gets them out of their hair parents need to be more involved.

The Primate Stress Club
1. Do you feel that you are low hostile or high hostile?
I believe that I am low hostile I do get upset or angry at some time but I don't feel like I am high hostile.
2. What do you feel are agressors in your life?
I feel that work is an agressor for me as well as school at times. My job is very hectic and right now I am the only one doing five peoples jobs. So yeah, it is a agressor.
3. Out of the three patients thatdoctors are researching, which one do you think is high hostile and angry?
I feel that the white guy that they were researching was a high aggressor. I forgot his name. But he was talking about someone who broke into his house and his kids were coming home. He was very upset which is understandable.
4. What do these findings suggest to you about your own lifestyle?
That I need to take better care of myself and try not to let the stress of work and school get the best of me.
5. What are the negative medical effects the research team discovered happens from high hostile and angry person?
High blood pressure, increased heart rate, reproductive problems, stomach problems clog arteries leading to a heart attack, ulcers and eventually all this could possibly kill.
