Assignment 2 Gender Bias

Dr. Beedle,

Here is the Assignment two of the Gender Bias. I found it on my jump drive.

I sent it in again to turnitin.com. So hopefully, you can view it now. It was in there to begin with I guess it never went through maybe there was something wrong with the system.

The explanation of gender bias is based on the way someone perceives someone else due to their sexual gender such as male or female. Someone may prefer one sex over the other sex. But in gender bias related to computer is totally different it has to with the use of computers and they way that computers work. (An Educator's Guide to Gender Bias Issues, N.D.)
There is a gender gap and a gender bias in technology. It has been proven that the use of computers is higher in boys than girls throughout their school years. Girls are starting to make their way up the latter but still aren’t there yet compared to the male gender. Boys are more involved in the computer science and computer clubs than the female gender so this is where the wide gap stands. (An Educator's Guide to Gender Bias Issues, N.D.)
Girls seem to lose their interest in computers because we as female see computers differently than males. One reason may be related to the way teachers teach technology in the schools. Another idea is that there are no role models that girls can look up to in regards to using technology. (An Educator's Guide to Gender Bias Issues, N.D.)
The way to encourage females for using technology starts at home with the parents, teachers and educators have the tools to help them understand technology and the way it works and encourage them to use a computer. Parents can be the most positive roles models for girls to become interested in technology is by listening to their ideas and give positive feedback. In conclusion we see gender bias within technology as being complicated at times. But to make technology not so complicated it again starts with the parents, educators and the manufactures that can make technology easier to understand. We need the parents and the educators to get involved both at the home and the schools to that they can make sure that girls understand the concepts of technology.sted in technology is by listening to their ideas and give positive feedback .
